The association aims to promote the businesses and opportunities in the area surrounding the two lakes.
Soon after the meeting "La parola ai Laghi" (Let the Lakes Speak (february 2005), the number of members increased threefold reaching almost 100 members spread over the territories of the three Comunità Montana - Alto Sebino, Basso Sebino and Val Cavallina.
The members belong to the following "categories":
- Hotels, Bed and Breakfast, Holiday flats, Hostels and Campsites;
- Restaurant, Pizzerias, Bars and Entertainment Venues;
- Leisure Activities: Museums, Associations for the Promotion of Tourism, Centres for Environmental Studies, Sports and Cultural Associations.
The Two Lakes Association publishes a brochure called "Tourism in 4 Seasons" and is also a partner of "Tourism Bergamo" an agency dedicated to the promotion of tourism. Their material can be found at Orio al Serio airport and at the main Tourism fairs in Italy and in Europe.
Since November 2005 the Two Lakes Association has supported a "sistema turistico" project called "La sublimazione dell'acqua" which envisages the creation of a system starting from the centre of Valle Camonica and covering the entire area of Lake Iseo (province of Bergamo and Brescia), the Val Cavallina, Franciacorta and the two airports of Montichiari (BS) and Orio al Serio (BG).
Due to a continual increase in both associations and commitment connected to the promotion of tourism, at a meeting in January 2006 it was decided that a tourism consortium should be established. This consortium has greater power to broaden the efforts to aid the promotion of tourism in the area and build a strong culture of tourism in the two lakes area.
The two Lakes Consortium was legally established on 29 May and its intention is to promote business holiday packages and offers available in the territory. The main areas where the territory will be promoted are:
- Metropolitan area of Milan;
- Orio al Serio (BG) and Montichiari (BS) airports;
- Foreign travel agents which deal in both individual and group holidays
The Consortium has an operational office in Lovere next to the "Porto Turistico" where both l'AVAS (Alto Sebino Sailing Association) and l'Ora di Lovere, two societies connected to the management of the port, have their premises.
The Consortium intends to involve all groups related to the promotion of tourism (Tourist Offices and Tourist Information) and to actively cooperate with public and private authorities in order to continue the work of the previous association and optimize the cultural, environmental, sports and food and wine facilities on offer in the territory.
